Daniel Molloy Interview with the Vampire (TV) basics: daniel is a 69 year old american investigative journalist. he interviews some vampires and nobody is normal about it. note: i haven't read the books and don't plan to, but if there are elements from them you're interested in incorporating while tagging me, go for it! i am not concerned about spoilers and i'm familiar with the general trajectory of upcoming seasons based on what cast + crew have shared, re things daniel will be getting into. canonpoint: any! i default on memes to late/post-s2. format: either, present tense. triggers: none for me. please warn where appropriate though. content warnings: daniel is a (mostly) former hard drugs user and addict who has a history of using sex work to pay for drugs in his youth, and who "got his shit together" vs going fully clean (still drinks alcohol, makes references to drugs). twice divorced, was not a good husband or father (stated by the character, details unknown). has parkinson's disease. touches on themes of repressed sexual identity and compulsory heteronormativity. more content warnings + abilities (s2 spoilers, click to see) daniel has experienced torture, both physical and psychological. he has been mindwiped/brainwashed. at the end of season 2 he was turned into a vampire, which nullified his parkinson's. the details of his turning are unknown but at best it was pretty weird, as it was done by the vampire who tortured him/tampered with his memory. powers: as a human, none. as a vampire, he has conditional immortality (bad: sun, decapitation, dead blood, blood starvation), super strength and speed and other enhanced senses, the ability to read minds, the ability to communicate telepathically with other vampires. his eyes change colors, his fangs appear sometimes, and he always has pointed, claw-like nails that can easily slice flesh. he won't sustain any permanent damage from being physically wounded, though healing times may vary. a mortal drinking his blood may experience any number of things, from borrowed healing to a druglike euphoria, though the nature of that may vary also. because daniel-as-a-vampire hasn't had much screentime yet, i'm just using the vampire basekit from tv canon. he's a baby vampire and hasn't learned any 'gifts' to expand on his power. in general: ota for castmates, other canons, other mediums, ocs. ota for shipping barring characters who are mentally or physically underage. happy to explore The Thing That Happens at the end of s2. fine with all levels of problematic/toxic nonsense [affectionate] as per canon. pm for contact, plotting, etc! additional ship stuff (more spoilers, click to see) happy to default to gen with no shipping required. i used to have a big disclaimer because i know some people get weird about shipping with older characters but u kno what.......... old people should bone. anyway: yes to armand, louis, raglan. no to marius. maybe to everyone else. i'm not too interested in writing out young/flashback era daniel and prefer old man yaoi/old maniel/modern era. pre-vampirism, daniel is not super interested in sex because he has parkinson's and it makes the experience pretty awful. post-vampirism he is down2fuq. explicit is fine as is ftb.
